News from The TurnersView this email in your browser March 2021Wow, it is almost April! Even though we are still in Oklahoma, we have had opportunities to share ideas for teaching children about God’s Word and His love for them. Recently we were able to connect via a Zoom call to at least 29 people from around the world to share about the Sunday school training we lead in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
While we look forward to returning to PNG and leading this type of training in person, we are thankful for the technology that has led to new ways of sharing with people in many other countries.Pray that we will be able to reschedule workshops in PNG that have been postponed. Some need to be held at certain times of the year due to the rainy season, rough seas, planting seasons, and local church activities. Earlier this month had a great time sharing in person with a group of children and adults at a church in Oklahoma.
One of the activities we shared with the group was “What is a heart language?” They learned about the importance of people having God’s Word in a language that speaks to their hearts. In February we enjoyed being able to celebrate Daniel’s birthday. (Daniel is in the dark shirt.) Even though we are hoping to return to PNG soon, we have enjoyed spending time with family while we have been in the United States. We have started the process of preparing to return to PNG. This includes medical clearance, getting current on our shots, and making sure we are at 100% of the budget Wycliffe has approved for our ministry in PNG. A challenge we are facing currently is to make up a $650 per month shortfall in our Wycliffe monthly ministry budget.
We are so thankful for the faithfulness of our prayer and financial partners over the years, especially these past months. We would ask you to pray with us for God’s provision as we trust Him to complete our partnership team so we can return to PNG as soon as all of the details come together. We have definitely experienced a variety of weather conditions in Oklahoma, from extreme cold to the nice spring weather. In February, Oklahoma broke temperature records from the late 1800s when an arctic system settled on our state for several days. The cell phone in the picture is showing 3°F, and that’s after it warmed up a bit!!!Currently COVID-19 is on the rise in PNG. Because of this increase in COVID-19 cases, the PNG government has reinstated restrictions on domestic travel and gatherings. We pray there will not be any new restrictions on international arrivals. There is already a required quarantine for those arriving from other countries. Please keep PNG in your prayers, as there is limited capacity for caring for major health issues.Praises:The opportunity to share with children & adults about PNGOnline technologyOverall good healthProgress in preparations to return to PNGOur son Kevin’s trip to the Middle East serving refugeesPrayer requests:PNG workshops to be rescheduledGod’s timing for our return to PNGTo be at 100% of our Wycliffe ministry budgetPNG and the spread of COVID-19Michael’s mom’s health issuesWe are so humbled, honored, and thankful for everyone who has stood with us over this past year of many uncertainties.
